Any other Luminis III schools utilizing port 80/443 for CPIP in single-server setting?
I've reviewed all of the content on LDN re: moving CPIP to port 80/443 but nothing I've found applies exactly to my situation. For one, we're still using Luminis III (on Solaris). Secondly, we have a 1 server environment.
I attempted to follow Sungard FAQ 1-54G63I (which is for Luminis IV) but ran into a snag with modifying the server.xml. I've backed out of those mods and moved on to plan B.
Plan B is having another IP bound to the server's network adapter and modifying the configuration for CPIP to use port 80/443 on this other IP. So far this hasn't worked either.
Utilizing Luminis authentication and SSO capabilities outside of the Portal
As our school's Luminis go-to guy, I've become involved in a new project (shopping cart system) that does not use Luminis as a platform but will be more successful if we're able to leverage a couple of Luminis' features: authentication and SSO.
New account creation, passwords, and FERPA
We're currently in the process of looking at reworking our new account creation process to be in line with FERPA requirements. Namely we're moving to cease the use of "personally identifiable information", i.e. the last four digits of SSN as part of the initial password assigned to as user.
Transitioning from this standard poses a problem as we're no longer able to simply instruct the users how to log in. E.g.,:
