IE8 problem with add channels div

We're using Greg Skinner's "add a channel" code at the top of our page in the welcome bar. Since going to IE8 I've noticed that when I hover over the image to bring up the channel menu, if the list is longer than the scrollbar and I move the mouse, the page/content automatically jumps to the top of the div. This isn't a problem as long as the menu list is short, but once the user has to scroll down, choosing a channel is almost impossible.

php Web proxy channel - upload file form

I'm working on a form that lets the user upload a file to the php server. I'm using a webproxy channel type. If I put the form into an iframe, the file upload works. Without the iframe the channel errors out. The working directory is correct. If I submit the form without the file field filled in it works. Does anyone have an example of this working, or is this a limitation of the web proxy channel?

Adding a flickr channel but making it secure?

We're getting a nice collection of photos on flickr and was asked to make a channel with a picture slideshow or even just random images. The problem is that flickr doesn't use https, while the rest of our portal does. I worked really hard trying to get everything secure so that IE wouldn't pop up with the mixed content warning. Does anyone know how to pull in mixed content but still make the browser think its secure? I can pull in youtube videos, but I can't get the same code work for the flickr slideshow.

TCC losing reference to content

We're on 4.2.2.32 and are having a real problem with targeted content channels losing their reference to the content after an update. I would say that over 50% of the time we make an update to the content, when the system refreshes, the channel appears blank. All the sections and subsections are there, just no content. Go into /opt/luminis/shared/content and browse through the newest files, and there is the content. So the content is there, and is being updated, the channel is somehow losing the reference to pull it up.

Group Studio Messageboard Theme

I've reworked the message boards a little, trying to keep from modifying the code too much.  Stripped some of the duplicated data out of them, and modified the style a little.  There are some properties files that had some of the field data, however modifying them didn't do anything.  So I had to hardcode in some of the text.  I've included all the files that you need to replace as well as screenshots.  I didn't get too wild with the style, I just wanted something that was cleaner and easier to use.

Protected directory for internal documents?

Is there a directory available on the system where we can put documents (word, pdfs, etc.) and have them only available to a user that is logged into luminis?  If not, how can I set one up?  We need to figure out someplace to put them.  We've tried groups but users who aren't familiar with groups have a hard time accessing the documents.  Currently we have the documents on a public server and are linking to them from luminis, however some documents shouldn't be available to the public.  Any ideas on how to do this?  I know how to use CAS to protect html pa

mySql installation/startup documentation?

I understand that this isn't a mySql site, but seeing that several schools are using mySql with Luminis, does anyone have any installation/startup documentation that they could share?  On our solaris box, mysql is installed by default, but I am having a hard time getting anywhere with it since I've never had to administer it before.  We've got php working with a sql server, but now want to add wordpress to the mix, so I'm back to trying to figure out the mysql.  Any tips would be appreciated.

Google gmail vs Microsoft live

We're planning on moving the student's emails to one of these services and wonder if anyone else chose a preference between the two based on how they integrate with luminis?
We currently have everyone in exchange, and will be keeping the faculty/staff accounts there.

usage comparisons from different schools

I would like to see what other schools are getting for usage rates if you could post that up here.  This is our second fall semester after going live, and we are trying to get a benchmark to see where we are at and where other schools are.

What I'm looking to compare (based on September's counts):

Daily:
Percentage of enrolled students logging in daily:  around 11%
Percentage of faculty logging in daily:  around 10%
Percentage of staff logging in daily:  around 4%

cars vs jsp - please explain what they do

I've tackled this issue before and gave up, but I would like to know what the purpose of the cars and the jsp files are.
