We would like to put some of our xml/rss feeds behind authentication. I cannot figure out how to have a Luminis XSLT Transformation channel (nor rss channel) show the contents of a feed, but only through authentication and "SSO" with our gcf connector.
Main objective: the public cannot see the feeds. Only those who provided a correct username/password.
For example, in our development environment one needs a username/password to go here:
http://dev01a.shu.edu/depts/uc/apps/cmcentral.nsf/category.rss?OpenPage&restricttocategory=Parking|General
Hi. We have some xml feeds coming from another server within our university that we display in Luminis using the XML Transformation type of channel.
Today the server that hosts the xml feeds went down ..... so our channels were not able to display.
I know there are caching parameters in portal.properties.
Does anyone know if Luminis 4.x has a way of caching xml/rss on the server (not in the browser) ..... and where on the server would the cached files exist?
If not, we are going to use a home-grown solution.
Thanks.
I've been on lumdev for a while. But I seem to be losing my mind. :)
I'm not positive, but I really thought there was a way that I, as a user, could bookmark other blog entries, etc. Like a "favorites" kind of (besides using the browser favorites)
Is there a way in Lumdev to do this, and if so, could someone point me in the right direction?
Going crazy,
Carol
Hello, all. We are thinking about the possibility of not letting our users add their own tabs. We ARE giving them one tab via their layout to "play" with.
How do we disable the "Add a tab" feature in the Manage Content/Layout screen (for users but not admins and layout owners)?
PS is this one of those permission things? ("Manage Permissions and Grants")? If so someone will hopefully have the time to walk me through it, as that is one complicated channel!!!
Thanks in advance.

Was just wondering if anyone is going to the Portal 2008 conference in Gettysburg this week? :) I went last year and thought it was worthwhile.
I'll be there again this year. :)
Suppose we have a tab for students that we need to turn on and off once in a while. Is there a way to do this in Luminis 4?
If I go to the layout owner for that tab, I do not see an 'enable/disable' option.
We just don't want to have to recreate the tab everytime we want it to show up.....
Or would I create a separate fragment for this tab, assign the fragment to students, and enable/disable the fragment?
Maybe I just answered my own question?
Input would be appreciated!!
I'm a little fuzzy on the purpose of usertemplate as compared to the "layout users".... can someone fill me in?
Also, there is a user called fragmentTemplate. Anyone know how to use this?
I can't find much in any of the documentation about either of these "users".
Also ..... . we're not in production yet, but once we are, is it possible to reset the layout for all users, or does each user have to do that individually?
Thanks!!

Hello. I can't find much documentation on the "checkState" operation in any of the documention, and I'd love it if someone could explain both "checkState" and "lastActive" and what is the difference? I think lastActive keeps checking to see when you were lastActive in an "External System" (ES), right?
I am having a problem with one our connectors (maybe all of them?).
I was working on syncing the timeouts between luminis and the ES's. The part I DID get working is if I'm active in the ES for longer than the luminis session timeout, I do not time out. That is desired behavior. But .....
I have a question. We have gotten a few GCF Connectors working.
Suppose I click on our link to "single sign on" to the external system (ES) , and when I am in that ES, I specifically "logout" of the ES using the ES's logout button. The problem is, when this happens, the next time I click back on the link to bring me to the ES, I have to sign in to that system. So,
Hello, all.
One of our External systems uses the user's last name as part of it's authentication, even if the last name has a space or apostrophe in it!!
So, for example, the cptool command would be
cptool set user joeiscool ExternalAccount = 'otherSystem|Is Cool|1111'
Everything is fine when I run it as is above.
However, if I use "cptool process file" .... and have
set user joeiscool ExternalAccount = 'otherSystem|Is Cool|1111'
as one of the commands in the file, I get an error:
ERROR: External Account must have the following format:
