Luminis 5 issue
I have just started the install of my dev Lum5 system and At the end of the install procedure i get a message saying that "Add '. /opt/luminis/.cprc' to ~/.bashrc.
How do I do that? I am new to Linux and learning curve is rather steep right now.
I also cant get the cd $CP_ROOT . ./.cprc command to work. I do not see a .cprc file anywhere either. . .
What am I doing wrong?
Luminis 5 is available for download
Documentation and software are available for download now in the SunGard support site.
Is anyone else going to roll out a 5 environment this year? I am trying to decide whether to roll out this year or wait for a few patches before doing so.
Thoughts?
Customized Icon link breaking when in the "My Courses" channel
I found out today that when a user here actually goes to the faculty tab and clicks the "My Courses" channel, that Luminis is changing the URL of the customized icons in the upper right. See the video here to see exactly what is happening.
http://lcc.lipscomb.edu/uploads/34104.swf
In stead of the link being .edu/cp/ip... it is making it edu/cp/cp/ip...
Does anyone know why this might happen?
GCF Question on redirects
I have a GCF that I am needing some help with. First we have a system for our HelpDesk solution that is from BestPractical. I have a GCF working to the IT HelpDesk install of it. That one is running at 3.8.2 version of the software.
We also have another install of that software for our facilities helpdesk. it is a different URL but it is a version of 3.8.4.
One of the differences that i notice is that when accessing the IT HelpDesk, the URL stays the same. When accessing Facilities HD, the URL changes from some "System.lipscomb.edu" to "System.lipscomb.edu/SelfService".
Fresh install on Linux
We are in planning stages of changing from Luminis on Windows to Linux.
Our current plan is to completely reinstall our environments with no migration of data. Fresh from the ground up. Our current setup is two environments, prod and test. In each setup there is a resource server, web server, and an email/calendar server. The Database is also on a separate maching as well.
Luminis as main source of communication with students
I am looking for example schools that are using Luminis as their main source of communication with the student population.
Has anyone moved away from campus wide email blasts and used Luminis as the place to put that type of communication?
What is the success rate of that communication now? What ways have other schools changed that way they communicate with students to not let the email, that gets cluttered by junk be the only source of communication?
Office 2007 and TA's
I have noticed that some of our users are seeing issues with creating an announcement in Word 2007 and then copy/pasting it into the TA editor interface. When the announcement is reviewed it contains a large amount of formatting tags and such. The TA is set to use HTML but these tags still show. The problems are only a slight annoyance but I'd like to help these users to eliminate this hinderance if at all possible.
Any ideas?
Thanks,

Compiling java - NewIconEvaluator.java
I have followed the step outlined in the Luminis SDK / User Interface Customization Guide /4.1 in order to add a webct icon to the nested tables and at the step of compile, I enter $JAVA_HOME/bin/javac NewIconEvaluator.java and I get the output of
"error: cannot read: NewIconEvaluator.java
1 error"
How do I fix this?
Thanks,

Gmail GCF
I am trying to create a GCF connector to a aspx page that handles the SSO for our gmail. the aspx page is just there to process the POST that is sent from the Luminis link. I am having some issues creating the xml file to send the ${_USERNAME} and ${_PASSWORD} to the aspx page.
Both Gmail and Luminis are using AD as an authentication source. Password synch is set up for GMail and I have set the properties file to use PDSCredentials.
In the xml file I should have to still have a SEARCH section right?
or can just the POST work?
Thanks,
Stephen
ANT - Not installed with LP 4. help needed
I just attended the SDK training in SLC and have come back ambitious to make channels and such that will require ant commands to be issued. I have learned from the looks of it that ant was not installed. I have navigated to the CDK folder in the sdk directory and run ant car, but i get a message "bash: ant: command not found"
Does anyone have any ideas on this?
thanks,
SKerstiens
