Ideas on Resetting Forgotten Passwords/Re-enabling accounts
I would like to know how schools are dealing with resetting passwords if a student forgets it.

Over the break, I reinstalled our production portal environment since its phsyical server was desupported as well as our OS (RH 3).
Replicated Luminis to another Test and it Times out
I need some help! I have to replicate my Prod to a Test environment. Because I had never used the replicator script and the source system requires down time, I first wanted to try it from a Test to another Test.
This is what I have:

Google Directory Sync with LDAP
I really need some help here. We're moving our e-mail system to Gmail, and we're not buying the Sungard adaptor for account provisioning or sso. I haven't even gotten started on the SSO, right now I'm working on the account provisioning. I'm using Google Apps Directory Sync, and I have installed it, but I don't think I have everything setup correctly because when I run the trial simulation I'm getting an error. Does anyone use this service with the Sun ONE LDAP that would be able to help me? This is some of the error:
32 vs. 64 bit
We are working on a new installation of Luminis. We will install 4.0 then upgrade to 4.3. We were planning on working with a virtualized server running a 32-bit Linux Red Hat 5 OS with 16 GB of RAM for our production environment. Now we are wondering whether this is enough RAM, and if we should increase it, and therefore install a 64-bit environment. I don't think it's necessary to go beyond 16 GB, but after our registration issues with Banner a month ago, administration is scared that this may also happen in Luminis one day. I'm seeing an average of 300 concurrent users a day.
E-mail & SMTP Host Name when Using Google
We are working on setting up Google as our e-mail provider, and I have already signed us up and verified our domain. To test the integration between Luminis and Google, we are going to setup a new Luminis 4.3 test environment. I can't get started on installing Luminis because I'm not sure how to fill out the email.host and smtp.host parameters in the install.conf file. I have asked Google to let me know whether I would still setup my domain as the hosts, or whether I'm supposed to point to one of their servers where my mail would reside, but apparently they can't help me out.
Google Integration with Luminis Calendar & Google Adaptor
We are in the process of moving our e-mail system to Google. Our only concern at this point is whether we would be able to integrate the Google Calendar with Luminis 4.3. According to Sungard, we cannot integrate the systems. I guess if it doesn't work we could keep our Sun Java Calendar (from Suite 5). What have you all done to provide a Calendar to students when using Google apps?
How do I enable SSL on my LDAP?
Let's see...Distance Learning is implementing a help desk software that will tie in to our Luminis LDAP for authentication. I'm not exactly sure what problems they are having, but they are asking for some ports to be opened on the firewall. I don't know why, if they are supposedly hosting this software internally, but anyway, I know one solution to protect our data would be to enable SSL on LDAP. Is this difficult to accomplish? What do I need to do?
Modifying Faculty Dashboard to include CRN/Section # & Sort Terms
Mostly we've heard them say that they don't like that all of their courses are listed without a CRN or Section Number. It makes it very difficult because when a professor teaches 3 of the same courses, they all appear identical in the channel--there's no way to distinguish which one is which. Does anyone know how we can modify this?
We also have the channel set up so that it sorts by term, but they argue that it doesn't display what they are currently teaching at the top of the list; it displays the oldest courses first.
Customizing "Class Schedule" Display & Functionality
I'm wondering if anyone has customized the look of the Banner Self-Service Class Schedule. (You can see our public Class Schedule here: http://www.laredo.edu/cms/class_schedule/.) One of our deans saw another's school's setup for the class schedule (http://www.sanjac.edu/programs-z), and fell in love with it.
