Howdy!
Almost 2 years ago my institution (Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, TX) cancelled our LCMS project after severe problems with the stability and usablilty of the system. Currently, we're looking to venture back into the world of an enterprise level CMS and I was wondering if LCMS has improved since I last worked with it. Are many instututions using it and how heavily are they using it? Is it worth considering as one of our options? Thanks for your input.
Problems?
What kind of specific problems were you having and I can touch on our experiences?
My experiences
One of our problems was that the system kept crashing. It wasn't due to problems with the server itself; we checked that thouroughly. Our SCT trainer was constantly on the phone with the home office trying to work out the issues. At that time, we were one of the first universities to attempt implementation of LCMS.
Secondly, the UI didn't make alot of sense. I don't remember exactly what the terminology was (something about "web views" among other terms) but it seemed like creating a page was unnecessarily convoluted.
It looked like the system had promise at that time but eventually, we decided to cancel our implementation due to system instability. We are now looking at CMS options and I was trying to gather some information.
I was wondering who out there has successfully implemented the LCMS and how large of a site are they managing with it.
