Exchange 2007 and Sharepoint 3 Integration

As with most institutions, we are currently looking at/implementing Exchange and Sharepoint. I have been tasked to look at the integration and I thought that instead of just bringing the finished product here I would share the whole process and get input from the community on the directions that I'm looking to take.

Cheers
Dave

I have previous knowledge about sharepoint

Hello Dave,
I have previous knowledge about sharepoint - i have architected, installed, designed, developed and customised sharepoint 2003 (v2) version and maintained it for about an year at a university. I never had any problems of connecting sharepoint to any other microsoft products.

In my current job, i support luminis 3.3.3.79 version but i never imagined the possibility of having a sharepoint site being used inside luminis. Correct me if i am wrong - i am making a wild guess that you guys have both luminis and sharepoint running. I am now wondering what advantages could we possibly get by having two intranet products on campus? Would you be willing to share your luminis site and your sharepoint site?

I would love to see a sharepoint site for another university and also would like to know how you guys are trying to tie the two horses together?

(Sorry i dont have much experience in combining these two products, i just know those products individually but i am open to possibilities and options)
Thanks Dave,

Hi, We are just starting to

Hi,

We are just starting to implement Sharepoint (not SPS).

I don't see Sharepoint and Luminis competing in the same space. Our group has been careful to state that a portal is not the same as the intranet, and that it should not be used as such (even though people here have a tendency to talk about it that way). We don't really see Sharepoint in the Intranet space yet either right now, although we see the obvious possibilities. We are going to try and use sharepoint as a group tools and collaboration suite when we first roll it out. It will most likely replace Group Studio.

I cannot share the Sharepoint site, but our Luminis site is in the "Demo Accounts" thread (top right of the page).

I can't really add to what I've posted at the moment on how I'm looking to bind the two applications together. The initial research I'm doing is going well and I'll post some more information when I have more.
