LDN has been nailed with spam-bots recently, creating accounts and posting crap comments to the site.
I've installed the 'Captcha' module a type of text-image verification, requiring new users to type in the characters in the image - I'm sure you've seen similar functions on other sites. Personally, I think they're a pain in the neck to use, often not accepting what I think is the correct answer, however, they get the job done, they stop the spam scripts from creating bogus accounts on the site. So I've conformed and added that function to the registration form.
I hope this will dramatically limit (eliminate) spam users.
Yesterday I spent about 2 hours going through the member directory deleting spam users. I know I didn't get them all, but I got the obvious ones. I have yet to go through all the posts to find bad ones. If you happen to see one, or see a post I haven't removed, please shoot me an email - jwheat@lumdev.net, the last thing I want is crap like that all over the site.
I apologize for not getting on this earlier, hopefully its over now.
