Faculty/Student roles missing Student tabs

I created myself a new user, assigned all the roles: Student, Faculty, Employee. I added specific tabs to each of the layout roles, Student, Faculty, Employee, All Users.
For some reason I can't seem to have the Student tabs and Faculty tabs on the same layout at the same time. Faculty tabs always seem to make the student tabs drop off. As soon as I take off the faculty role from my user, the student tabs show up. I have plenty of room on the row, and can verify that all the tabs work for the individual roles.
Does anyone know why this is happening or where I can even check for details on this? The only way to add tabs to the layout that I know of is through the -lo accounts.

edit the dlm.xml
You will need to edit the dlm.xml file. It assumes by default that if a faculty member is also a student then all their stuff will be on the faculty tab. We too had this issue since many of our faculty are also students. Once you edit the file you will need to restart your webserver for the changes to take effect.

I know this has been stated above, but just to reiterate: this file no longer exists in Luminis 4.
From the Luminis 4 Release Notes:
DLM.XML REMOVAL
As part of the Luminis Platform IV feature set, a new tool called Fragment Manager is provided to create and manage layout fragments. Because fragments are now managed through this GUI tool, the dlm.xml file that was formerly provided to set up layout fragments is no longer supplied. During migration from III.x systems, the layouts defined by the dlm.xml file will be preserved and administration of them will be available through the Fragment Manager.

I might be wrong, but you might want to edit the dlm.xml file and make sure that the precedence level for the faculty is appropriately set. Please checkout the luminis IV admin guide. In luminis 3.X the topic is "working with users and groups => creating speciality roles" (This will tell you how to edit the dlm.xml file and i am guessing its almost similar process in luminis IV).
If you need a customized version, i can send you a copy of the dlm.xml file that i have on my test/prod box - please feel free to send me an email regarding this.

Fragment Manager
Fragment Manager takes the place of dlm.xml in IV. There is a GUI screen in the portal that lets you administrate the owners.
Very confusing when the admin guide goes through and explains how to use dlm.xml and says nothing that its no longer used. I found 1 little line in the IV release guide that explains this.
