We're in the middle of our Luminis IV install (our Sungard consultant is, anyway), and some questions are coming up from some of our organizational committees. I'm wondering how hard it is to modify delivered Banner Channels. We have a very limited staff, so I'm a little hesitant at this point.
How hard is it to add an extra link to an outside web page?
Is there a short list of things to which you could say, "These are fairly easy changes that you could probably offer to your users early on in the process."

I'm trying to figure this out too.
When you install the Banner Channels, there's a channel called "Banner Channel Administration". This channel lists your Banner Channels, with two links to SSB for each channel: one link to twbkchnl.P_ModifyChannel (Customize a Channel), and the other to twbkcprf.P_DispChannelPref (Preferences).
The Preferences link looks promising. When you click on it, it lists all the links for that channel. It has a button "Add Preference". I tried adding a link to a homegrown SSB page, and when it's done, it creates a new preference for that channel with the "group" value set to LOCAL_SS (the rest are all just SS).
When I visit a tab with that Banner channel, I can see my link title in the channel, but the link doesn't go anywhere.
Am I doing something wrong, or is there more to it after you create a preference for your link? Are there instructions somewhere?

You either need to patch twbccom1.sql or manually change LOCAL_SS to SS in table TWGRUPRF. Then when you add a link to a SSB page it will work.
