Move to External Email

Currently we are running the Luminis 3.3.X and we are looking into upgrading to Luminis IV. However, we are also looking into moving to an external emailing system. Currently, we don't know of any but exchange server that people have used. I wanted what others are using for external emailing systems, how is working for them and if they know of any other systems. We are in the process of finding the pros and cons of external emailing and if we should implement it.

Move External Email
There are various options you have and I would like to let you know some of the successful options clients have implemented in their III.x and IV environment.
1. Microsoft Exchange
Sungard HE provides baseline OWA connector that seamlessly
Integrates Luminis with email system, Exchange 2003 and
2007 integration can be achieved without problem, Account
provisioning to Active Directory and Exchange can be achieved
using SungardHE services or inhouse skills
2. There are some clients have implemented Google as their email
system and Sungard HE has developed mechanism that would
Integrate Google at data level and visual integration to work with
LP IV
3. There are other options also available such as Zimbra email system and Microsoft Live where these systems can be integrated with Luminis.

I am curious on how a zimbra/ lum combo is working out, very interested and already loaded up an install of zimbra to play around. Can you give us some details on performance and amount of users. How much space are you giving users etc.. difficulties
what is being used commercial version or open source
are you doing multi-server install ..
