I have a few questions regarding the Learning Management Gateway Installation documentation elearn30100in.pdf if anyone can give me any enlightened input - that would be greatly appreciated!
We're running Luminis 3.3.3.79:
We followed the instructions found in this pdf but I found some of the documentation to be confusing.
On page 46 of the documentation it reports that you need JDK version 1.4.2. We have:
- which we currently *need*
/opt/pipeline/products/jdk/bin/java -version
java version "1.3.1_19"
Although we also have installed:
/usr/jdk/j2sdk1.4.2_05/bin/java
/usr/jdk/jdk1.5.0_11/bin/java
What issues/problems/conflicts might we run into with having both versions of JDK on the system? What commands/processes, etc., require JDK version 1.4.2 beyond the initial install?
Also on page 46, the instructions say to create an installation directory to house the LMG and create a new environment variable in the log in profile of the account where LMG needs to be installed:
SCT_LMG_HOME =/export/home/SCTERPGateway; export SCT_LMG_HOME
I wasn't sure *which* account profile to edit to add the SCT_LMG_HOME variable. What is “the account”? Does this mean /export/home/SCTERPGateway, or does this mean cpadmin or what? It is unclear what this means. It tells you in 4.1.2 to create /export/home/SCTERPGateway, but it doesn’t tell you that this is specifically an ‘account’ just a path. So this is confusing. The path appears to be nonstandard. Why is it located in /export/home per this documentation? Is there a more appropriate location for this to be installed?
Also on page 46, step 4.4, regarding the java -jar lmgX.x.jar command - what user should this command be run as? (presumably whatever user for which we need to set the SCT_LMG_HOME variable?)
Okay, my last question for now - page 49, where are the parameters sct_lmg_user and sct_lmg_pw injected into ldap? I didn't see any ldap adds in the mldisetup script, or any instructions in the documentation where we're explicitly told to add this user and pw to ldap. Does this get created somewhere along the way and I missed a step?
Thanks for humoring my questions. Any experienced/expert input on installing LMG would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!
Lisa
