LDN - Luminis Developer Network

Good day everyone!

We're running Luminis IV over here and we needed to reset the layout of a user who had corrupted their layout by renaming a tab (we haven't applied the hotfix for that yet...). Now there is an article on this site about resetting layouts in III but that didn't work for version IV. Luckily, odds are everything you need to create a Layout Reset Channel is already installed in IV.

So here's what you need before we get started.

1) An admin account
2) Ensure that in your Luminis directory "webapps\luminis\WEB-INF\cars\layoutReset.car" exists.

If you've got that, then you can move along. If not, just send a request to Sungard, they can hook you up with a copy of the layoutReset.car file. (adding the file will required a webserver reboot before it's available)

Now what we'll be doing is creating a Custom Channel. Here are the steps and settings I used.

1) Go to Portal Admin
2) Click on "Publish a New Channel"
3) Select "Custom Channel" and click next
4) Apply the following settings

Channel Type: Custom
Channel Title: Layout Reset Assistant
Channel Name: Layout Reset Assistant
Channel Functional Name: com.sct.pipeline.uportal.channels.layoutReset.Channel
Channel Functional Name Accessible Only: False (Unchecked)
Channel Description: Channel enabling reset of user layouts.
Channel Timeout: 15000 milliseconds
Channel Secure: True (Checked)
Channel Class: com.sct.pipeline.uportal.channels.layoutReset.Channel

Now the Channel Secure and Functional Name Access can be changed to whatever you want. I just found those settings were the most ideal.

5) Continue through the wizard, applying settings you see fit. I would recommend at least assigning a category to the channel and limiting access to the channel to administrators only.
6) Finish and save.

Now you can go to your Content Layout page and add the channel. When you first view the channel in you home tab, you'll notice if you selected "Channel Secure: True (Checked)" you'll have to hit the focus button and maximize the channel so you can switch to an https zone.
