Hello, all. We are thinking about the possibility of not letting our users add their own tabs. We ARE giving them one tab via their layout to "play" with.
How do we disable the "Add a tab" feature in the Manage Content/Layout screen (for users but not admins and layout owners)?
PS is this one of those permission things? ("Manage Permissions and Grants")? If so someone will hopefully have the time to walk me through it, as that is one complicated channel!!!
Thanks in advance.

On our portal the username for most users is their email without the "@domain". However we are getting about 1/4 of login failures that have this as part of their username. To fix this, I changed the javascript on the login function so that it replaces that string.
Tested with IE and Firefox and everything works, would like to get any comments on browser and security issues before moving to production.
File: /opt/luminis/webapps/luminis/jsp/portal/login.jsp
Replace:
function login()
{
setQueryAsCookie();
document.cplogin.user.value=document.userid.user.value;
We're trying to migrate from Solaris to Linux. Has anyone done this and if so, do you mind pointing me in the right direction. SGHE said that they could help, but we would have to subscribe to their "professional services". I'm somewhat familiar with the migration process, but I'm not quite sure how to make it migrate cross-platform. Any help will be much appreciated.
I am working on creating a new channel to update Data in Banner Database. Although getting data from Banner and displaying it on channel worked fine, I was not successful in doing the vice versa. On the Channel, I have configured a procedure which has an input box which takes the value and a submit button so that when user enters value and clicks on the submit action, I am unable to retrieve the value in the input box. In our university, this is the first time we are working on Custom Banner channels apart from using Banner Delivered Channels.
I’ve created a few php programs that I’ve added to the portal as inline frames channels. It does work, however I have to add in the height value. In the case of my calendar application, the content height could go from 60 to 300 depending on the number of items, but the channel height is always what I set it at. Is there a different channel type I should be using for these so that the height adjusts according to the content, and not have a lot of empty white space?
After stopping and starting the Luminis Server we are receiving the following error when our users try to access a channel:
A SQL exception has occurred.ORA-00022: invalid session ID; access denied
Any help resolving this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Hello,
I am posting my source code for our Facebook Channel. I know Duke has a portlet, but my java is crappy, and I don't have time to develop portlets at the moment. This Channel is PHP/MySql. It will involve a cpip, so you might want to brush up on that. Included in the zip are instructions, a screen shot, the sql for the database, and all files needed to deploy. All you need are a CPIP, facebook app, and an apache/mysql/php server. That's it.
Oh , in addition, ps, also, Please let me know if you downloaded it, and had any issues, or just plain didn't like it. Thanks.
Regards,
We are in the process of configuring our production environment for parallel deployment. We are trying to create our second AppServer in advance of getting the load balancer.
Yesterday we tried to do the install of LP-4.0.0.0-linux.iso on a clean server running Red Hat AS3 Update 9. The install created large backup file (backup-luminis-4.0.0.0.zip) of about 7 Gig before ultimately failing with the following error

We have been testing Platform 4 on a Linux VM for about 8 months with migration from Windows. I must say that most of the migration has been manual or scripted at the db level at best.
Well our hardware came in the other day for the new Platform 4 Production box and we are without our Linux VM for a few days. I had this great idea to create a Windows 2003 VM and test the migration from 3.3 to 4 in a supported fashion. This seemed to work okay but it looks like the configman settings come over from the 3.3 system and the webserver (tomcat-cp) will not start.
We've been working on cached RSS newsfeeds - a popular part of a portal. I've been a bit at a loss recently as to why, in spite of setting the proxy server and proxy port, the rss feed wasn't working when deployed to the live system. Well, I was setting the proxy values in the wrong place - tho' it isn't immediately obvious (to me anyway) what the right place is!
