George Mason University, Information Technology Unit (ITU), Technology Systems Division is seeking a motivated talented individual to join its team as a full-time System Application Administrator.

As a dynamic growing institution, George Mason University is in the process of implementing a Web Portal Application for use by students, faculty and staff. The portal provides Mason with a one-stop solution for e-mail, announcements, human resources, course and registration information, and content and links from around the university.

As the Portal Application Administrator, the incumbent will be responsible for coordinating activities both within ITU and across Mason as they relate to the portal. He or she will be responsible for the tool's architectural strategy, implementation, development, and support as well as the linkages to related administrative applications across Mason's Web-related platforms. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, applying software upgrades, developing scripts, troubleshooting, fixing system errors and integration to third-party applications.

Applicants must have a solid technical background with designing, developing and integrating Web technologies/applications. The position requires a strong mix of technical and interpersonal skills to maintain and troubleshoot the portal application during and after its implementation. Experience supporting core information technology systems in an academic environment is a strong plus. Experience implementing SunGard Luminis, Banner, or other portal or enterprise resource planning applications is a definite plus. A bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.

Qualifications/Requirements:
- Must have significant demonstrated experience designing, developing and integrating Web technologies/applications;
- Strong technical experience using: UNIX Solaris, RDBMS Oracle, and object-oriented design and development;
- Strong communication and coordination skills and experience coordinating work across multiple teams;
- Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills;
- Experience with large and complex systems;
- Thorough understanding of how production systems are maintained and administered;
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, related technical field, or equivalent training and experience; and
- Should require minimum direction and have a great sense of ownership.
