I'm a little fuzzy on the purpose of usertemplate as compared to the "layout users".... can someone fill me in?

Also, there is a user called fragmentTemplate. Anyone know how to use this?
I can't find much in any of the documentation about either of these "users".

Also ..... . we're not in production yet, but once we are, is it possible to reset the layout for all users, or does each user have to do that individually?

Layout fragments

The usertemplate account is a hold-over from uPortal. Any tabs and channels in this account will be inherited once only by every new user who logs into your portal. At most institutions, the usertemplate layout is simply blank, because you can do much more powerful and controllable things with layout owners.

The tabs and channels from the layout fragment owners can be inherited (or not) for each user depending on their roles in the system, and how those roles are assigned to specific layouts. This is all controlled by dlm.xml, and the boolean logic can be as complicated as you need/want it to be.

Layouts can be reset on a per-user basis with the "layout resetter" channel. I would suggest getting this channel in place, and then putting into the hands of your Help Desk people - it has proven useful here.
