Migrating SQL Server 2000 to SQL Server 2005 for Luminis/uPortal Databases

We are running Luminis 3.3.3.79 and using SQL Server 2000 as the back-end for the luminis and uPortal databases. The SQL Server instance will be reaching end of service in late November, so I’m exploring replacement options for the server/database.

Has anyone migrated from SQL Server 2000 to SQL Server 2005 or from SQL Server 2000 to Oracle for the luminis/uportal databases? If so, what migration issues did you encounter? Also, is there a defined method for the migration? And lastly, are there solid reasons to consider Oracle over SQL Server? Any recommendations are appreciated.

Looking to do the same

We will be upgrading from Luminis 3.3.3.79 with SQL 2000 to Luminis 4 within the next couple of weeks and are looking to upgrade from SQL 2000 to SQL 2005 also. I used the SQL 2005 upgrade advisor tool and didn't like the warnings/fixes it recommended be done before SQL 2000 could be updated. I was wondering if you had received any feedback or answers externally that you would be willing to share here.
