Hi,
We are upgrading from III.3.3.64 to IV. The migrator script doesn't seem to work very well. So we are seeking to do a clean install and replicate everything to the LP4 test server manually. However, we need to import the user name and password.
SunGard's suggestion "in the migrator script, search for import-platform and edit the execution plan in there. Just remove the bits you don't want to import." However, I don't know what I should remove. Has anyone done this before? Or any other way to do the same?
Thanks,
Arion
Customizing migrator script
We are doing the same migration on Solaris. After a few initial hickups, the migrator script is working.
Sungard's response is a pretty good one. If not running the migrator script, you're going to have to figure out what it does and just run the bits you need.
For example, you probably will want to remove the group tools import part.

migrator script
I'd hang in there and make them make the script work for you. We were one of the earliest schools to migrate, and it took us a long time to work through the bugs. The vast majority of those bugs should be worked out by now, so it is just a matter of getting the right info from them.
In addition to the right info, I believe that we went through about 7 different versions of migration software in the several months we played with things. Make sure you have the latest migrator script and latest a_mig.jar file (database importer)
Also make sure that your base Luminis 4.0.0.0 installation is the highest build. One of our problems turned out to be an early build of 0.0.0.
And to speed up migration attempts, I'd highly recommend running your Luminis IV environment in solaris containers (virtual zones). Try a migration, fails, zfs rollback, try again, etc..

migrator script
Hi Jason,
Thank you for sharing. Where can I find the latest a_mig.jar file? I see there is only one .jar file on SunGard download site, is that it?
Thanks,
Arion
a_mig
I would assume that the latest a_mig jar is posted on the support site, but double check by asking in your help ticket. When I was migrating, the ftp server was still public, so I got all my files using ftp.
In my migration directory, I see a_mig_1.6.jar. I believe that is the one we used that finally worked for us. I am not sure what version they are at now though. Probably higher.

a_mig_1.6.jar current
I just downloaded the a_mig_1.6.jar a few days ago and was able to run the migration scripts, so this should be correct.
I was going to post later about our migration, because we are going from HPUX to Linux. I ran our export successfully but now I'm just working on the import.
2.4 is current version
Hi, I use the a_mig-2.4.jar version. Search for ticket "1-3AU6BM Luminis IV known migration issues" and the download will be there.
oops
sorry, 2.4 is the version that I have
