The Federal Government has mandated a new ethnicity collection scheme for IPEDS, to be finalized and reported on by 2010. What is your solution on this?

We are thinking to have a page to check if we have the ethnicity for students in record and force students to enter their ethnicity if we don't have it in record (Banner). And once the student entered the ethnicity he/she won't see the page ever again. This page should appear right after authenticating the user and before the LP interface comes up. Does this make sense?

We are still on the very beginning stage of this ethnicity collection scheme and haven't thought about the detail of implementation. I'd like to hear other schools' plans.
