Site Map Questions?

Has anyone tried to display the site map channel delivered with Luminis (we are testing LP4) as a pop up window?

We would like for the site map to display when a user selects a Site Map Link which will be in the footer of all pages in our case. I guess I am asking how to reference the site map channel (not a tab that it is on) in an html link or if that is even possible.

I have been able to add it to a tab and then reference that but no success getting it to display independently of a channel on a tab.
