Wireless TA or Facebook Portlet
I was curious to see if anyone was currently using the Wireless TA or Facebook portlet in version 4.2. I would like to know if you have found any pitfalls to either of these features. Also, were there any costs to your college in sending Wireless TAs to the students who subscribed?
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

facebook channel
I think I recall that when we first looked at the facebook channel, we noticed that it didn't log a user out of facebook (or something security related like that) when closing the portal. I could be wrong, its been a while, but I seem to remember deciding not to implement it.
Facebook
I implemented the facebook channel on our portal. Students really wanted this so I was told to make it so. I have found that if the person goes straight from portal to facebook it uses their account without asking to log in again. If the student logs out and closes their browser, it doesn't seem to keep any of the information, so the next time person goes to facebook or our portal they must log in again. We tell everyone to log out and close their browser for security purposes, especially if accessing on a public computer (ex. lab computer). Other than that the facebook channel works well and our students have really loved using it. Sometimes we do get an error on the channel that it can't load but those times have been when there have been problems with facebook itself.
Wireless TA
I am also curious about the Wireless TA capabilities of 4.2. We currently use a 3rd party company to send emergency announces such as campus closures and such. We would like the capabilities of doing them our selves.
What might be the ramifications of sending out several hundred, possibly a thousand messages at once? Will we get marked on the "blacklist" for spamming through cell phones?
What is the load on an Exchange Server or even the Luminis Server?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
