high login counts
For the last three weeks our graph of logged in users has been showing unusually high counts. We would normally expect to see counts of 600-800 users during the day and for it to drop off to less than 20 around 4 a.m. Lately we've been peaking at just under 4000 and the numbers lately haven't dropped below 700 even at 6 a.m. It seems like sessions aren't being cleaned up, although I do see timeouts and logouts in the session.log. Right now we have session.timeout set at 25 minutes. Our SSB timeout is set at 30 minutes and UserSessionManager.SweepInterval is set at 15 minutes.
Are there other settings I should look at? Sungard seems to think that adjusting these numbers should help, but I don't know what numbers to try. This all started about a week after we converted to Banner 8.

re high login counts
Other people have had issues with this also. http://www.lumdev.net/node/2913
Could be your session sweeper is having problems. Or, you just have 4,000 people logging in within 15 minutes:)
To check total logins: grep "user login:" $CP_ROOT/logs/session.log | awk '{ print $1 " " $5 }' | sort | uniq | awk '{ print $1 }' | uniq -c
I might start by lowering your sweepinterval to see if that immediately effects your number or not.
We've never had this issue, so I'm not sure what the solution would be.
