There is no Luminis 5 yet.
Did you perhaps mean Luminis 4? The documentation is available through the Documentation & Downloads Center link in the Sungard Customer Support Center website.
beta release is imminent
Josh Horner demonstrated Luminis 5 last Thursday, to the European Luminis User Group.
It is supposed to be out in the first quarter of 2010 (beta).
I think that it is a good idea to look for documentation now, but I am not sure that you will find any.
How many institutions are intending to participate in the beta programme? I do not think that uPortal will be available as the framework for this.

Lum 5 technology
We had a presentation done last week too. They said that the current plan was to replace uPortal portal server with Liferay portal server.
a year ago (a short history of time)
Perhaps six months ago, or maybe as long a year, ELUG met in Greenwich and this included an early demo of Luminis 5.
Sungard had just sewn up a deal with Liferay, and this was to become the default framework underlying Luminis 5. At that stage the public message was that a choice of frameworks would be possible - a version of uPortal (whether 2.5, 2.6, or 3 was unclear); Oracle portal (comment censored); or Liferay.
Possibly this has been silently changed - has anyone been told publicly that uPortal will not be a possible framework for Luminis 5?
Also, does anyone know a better history of Liferay? As far as I can tell it lay dormant for quite a while.
One of the things that we like about the current Luminis is the potential for changing what needs changing, and for adding in things that fit to the framework. I would want to avoid having to do work arounds just due to the framework constraints.

Luminis Platform 5.0 Statement for Jasig
Derek,
There seems to be a contradiction.
From SunGard's statement on the Jasig site it seems clear to me that schools should be able to run Luminis 5 on uPortal.
http://www.jasig.org/luminis-platform-50-statement-jasig
"Luminis Platform 5.0 will provide a certified reference implementation for uPortal starting with version 3.x. This provides choice and flexibility at the portal server layer as well as support for schools who do not use the Luminis Platform but rather have deployed the native uPortal product. These schools will now have a framework to consume various Luminis Platform applications such as Luminis Channels for Banner and integrate with the Luminis Platform solution in ways not available today."
Is this not the case?
Why would they have silently changed the framework?
If they have changed the framework, why would they have made this statement?
