Luminis Idol 2010!

It's back: Luminis Idol 2010!

After rave reviews the last two years and champions from 2 different countries, we're looking forward to crowning a new winner this year.

Contestant Search Underway

We're looking for contestants to take part in our session. Do you have something impressive you want to demonstrate with your Luminis instance? Great UI? Innovative channel? Maybe you've leveraged your portal for other means - there's an audience for that!

Take part in this year's Luminis Idol and show everyone what you've done.

Accepting applications (or nominations) until March 15th or until we have all the contestant spots filled up.

How to enter:

Email acalder@bcit.ca with the following:

  • Your name
  • The contestant's name (if different)
  • School name
  • Portal name (ie: myBCIT)
  • What aspect of your portal you will present (this will be kept confidential)

As the event draws closer I will post more details.

Trophy

Where's the trophy right now?  (darn, I forgot to take a picture of it before sending it off...)

It's all about the cheap plastic trophy!!

Todd

Plymouth

Plymouth have it right now, I'm waiting for the official photographer to return with his/her shots.

I hear Simon Scowl is available

Not sure if you need a judge that is scathing though :-)

3 schools on board so far

So far, I have had 3 schools send me a request to be part of Luminis Idol.  We are likely going to cut it off at 6 or 7, so be sure to get your entries in soon.

Also, if you know of someone that would make a good candidate, let me know.

If you have questions, or are not sure if you would qualify - ask!

Email me at: acalder@bcit.ca

Luminis Idol 2010 - More Details?

Hi

I have responded to you in regards to presenting at Summit 2010 for Luminis Idol. As it’s my first time to Summit, could you provide me with an idea of how things will run for the Luminis Idol competition? Can we use Microsoft Powerpoints? How many people will I be presenting to? How long do the presentations need to be in length (ie. mins)? Could you also confirm you received my application for Luminis Idol? We will be able to demonstrate functionality at our university?

Please email me ASAP ... Summit is approaching us very soon...

More contestants needed

I've had 2 schools drop out because they cannot make it to Summit this year, so I have a few openings for contestants.  If you are going to be at Summit and you are interested in being a contestant, let me know.

It's a fun time and you get to compete with some great examples of Luminis deployment!

How many people are expected to Luminis Idol?

How many people usually fill the room for luminis idol?

Regards Glenn

who won?

This has been my favorite session each year I've been at Summit but we weren't able to go this year. Who won?

At the scheduled time, the room (and building) went completely dark! No power, emergency lights came on and "virtual" view of the presentation was provided. Virtual as in the site authors verbally describing what they intended to show. It was very entertaining.

The session was rescheduled and Bucknell took it.

Josh Horner of Sungardhe was present.
