Luminis 4 search issues in Calendar

We've been doing some extensive testing with the calendar in our test install of Luminis 4 and have hit some pretty serious issues.

For example, in Luminis III.3.3, using the Calendar Express functionality, people can invite me to an event by searching for my name "Paul Hughes".  My full name is "Paul Pierce Hughes", but the Calendar Express functionality under the hood will find my entry.

In Luminis 4.x, the calendar utilizes Communications Express.  When searching for "Paul Hughes", no results are returned.  People can only search for me by searching on my full name (Paul Pierce Hughes) or "Paul" or "Hughes" (which brings back many rows).

I have queried this with Sungard and they have confirmed that Communications Express does indeed search on extract string matches.

For us, this is a serious show-stopper.  Most of our calendar users don't know the middle names of collegues thay may only invite to meetings now and again.

I find it incredible that functionality that was present in an older version of a product is not available in the new version.

Has anyone experienced this issue?  If so, how have you solved it?

There are worse problems

That to me isn't a "serious show stopper".  How about:

  • custom added time zone does not show up in the global preferences page
  • cannot edit all instances of a repeating event which has been migrated from Luminis 3
  • event invitations no longer contain LDIF attachment information
  • logout button needs to be removed manually
  • style sheets are not applied properly in all views
  • some images are broken in the calendar client
  • some calendars do not honor the "-k no" flag for double booking
  • users have invitations that get counted in their total invitation count, but which they cannot see using any method

Some of these are obviously more serious than others.  And that's just off the top of my head, I'm probably forgetting others. 

But yes, the users at our campus are overall not happy at all with this "new" calendar.  We're using the one bundled with Luminis 4, we haven't looked at upgrading the calendar by itself to the latest from Sun - it would be interesting to hear from someone who's done that, whether it's really any better.

Thanks for replying.  In response to one of the other problems you mentioned:

Yes, we came accross that as well.  In fact, the migration process wouldn't even run until we replaced "cs5migrate -r" with "cs5migrate_recurring" in the migrator.sh  This case was open two months until this "solution" was given to us.
