TCC losing reference to content

We're on 4.2.2.32 and are having a real problem with targeted content channels losing their reference to the content after an update. I would say that over 50% of the time we make an update to the content, when the system refreshes, the channel appears blank. All the sections and subsections are there, just no content. Go into /opt/luminis/shared/content and browse through the newest files, and there is the content. So the content is there, and is being updated, the channel is somehow losing the reference to pull it up. So I have to edit the file, copy and paste the source back into the channel editor, then save again.

Is anyone else having this issue? It appears to happen at all times of the day, we have very low load, 20-60 users on at a time. Support suggested that we restart the system when this happens. We already restart every night at 2AM, and I can't just go in and restart all day long. It doesn't matter if they are complicated channels, or very simple ones.

Some days aren't that bad, I just make a few fixes and go on, but on days where I update a lot of channels, this problem gets to be a real headache.

TCC losing reference to content

I've seen that happen as far back as Lum III and early Lum IV. I haven't seen that on 4.2.0.67 yet.

Sorry, I never did come across a solution. I ended up getting in the habit of keeping the source in a file on my desktop, and re-adding if the channel blanked after the cache expired.

Its been a while, but I seem to remember it having a higher chance of happening if the source code wasn't strict xhtml.

never before this version

We've never had this issue until this version. Support suggested trying the latest hotfix, and restarting the system more. Nothing much more then that. I've had it happen to very complicated channels with javascript, and I've had it happen to channels with simple text and links. So far I've noticed that they are only on free form html channels, we don't update the other channel types very often, so I don't know if it doesn't affect them, or we're just not seeing it.

I was having the same issues

I was having the same issues occasionally. What I discovered was that doing a ldap reindex restored the connection to the lost content. You might try that and see what happens

Me Too

We just went live about 3 weeks ago on version 4.2.2.34. Everything was fine with the channel until I updated it. After a refresh the content channel appears blank, even though the content appears in /opt/luminis/shared/content. After I restart, it's fine again...until it refreshes. Then, it disappears again. SunGardHE isn't able to recreate the problem. The problem channel was an Image type channel. This problem occurred in the test and production portals. I changed the channel to a Targeted Content Channel and so far so good.

Add me to the list

It seems this thread is approximately a year old. Has there been any response from Sungard about this issue? Or has anyone come up with a way to avoid this problem? It has happened sporadically to me as well. The content is of the channels is usually very simple HTML and almost always a freeform text / HTML section.
