Authenticated Parental Access to Student Bills (and E-billing) - revival of old post

Hello, all!!!!!

My question is the exact same as found here:
http://www.lumdev.net/node/927
This poster posed the problem perfectly:
"We've had a request from our accounting office to find a way to make student billing and payment information available online to parents. The catch, of course, is that they don't want parents to have access to the student's other information. Is this something that any of you have done? If so, would you be willing to share your strategies? " (kellyda, aka David).

The solution would of course REQUIRE authentication of parents/guardians - but not by logging into the student's account. We do not want parents to access the student grades, email, or any other personal information. Just the bursar account/billing.

The thread above is relatively old (2006) however, replies mention 2 possible solutions:
contracting with Sungard for a special solution/mod (David McMillan)
and
"Rose Hulman's Web for Parent mods to SSB a few years ago and it's worked out pretty well. I know they had a session on it at the 2004 Summit" (mbarsic)

Is anyone else currently dealing with this problem, or better yet, solved it? Can you please provide your solution or at least point us in the right direction? I check here often so reply right in this thread so all can share!

By the way, I have not looked into "Web for Parent" mods but am headed right over to sungard's UDC.

Thanks!

Web for Parent/Web for Proxy

We have not done anything like this, but I attended a session at summit this year about the Web for Parent. It is part of the community source initiative. It's being renamed Web for Proxy and will soon be part of baseline banner. They were hoping it would be part of 8.5, but it may be 8.6 and they weren't sure if it would be put in Banner General or Web Tailor or both. It was session ID 3627 if you have access to the summit presentations.
