Channel displaying a URL with username parameter appended

My requirement seems quite simple, I've just never done any channel development.

All I want to do is display a channel containing a bit of text and a URL with the value of pdsLoginId appended as a URL parameter:

So, if my pdsLoginId is "Fred", the channel would contain the URL

"www.someurl.com?username=Fred"

Any guidance would be most appreciated.

The spam filter has gone insane I think. I can't seem to post anything that has any level of detail. It won't even accept the word of one of the links on the site. Anyway, in the upper right hand corner of the site, second link from the bottom is a good place to start.
