Hi, fellow Luminis developers.

We are migrating to Luminis 4.2.2.34. We are starting "fresh" ....

1) I would like to know best practices for adding "homegrown" content on the server (example: html you wrote, jpg used in a Targed Content Channel, jsp, xml, etc). Currently (4.1.x - Production), we host much of our homegrown content in a subdirectories under a directory similar to the following:
/usr/luminis/webapps/luminis/setonContent/

Whenever we tried to access Banner SSB page, all icons disappeared! Please help, thanks!

Hello, everyone! ☺ There is a script in /usr/luminis/bin called addnewbookmark. Has anyone ever used it?

I ran it in our development environment (without fully knowing the implications). NOT a good idea.

We don't hot desk here at the University of Huddersfield. Each day we, the hard working staff of a noble Yorkshire institution, sit down at our familiar desk and login to our PC and then, oh tedious!, we have to login to the portal as well, using exactly the same credentials that we just entered to login to the PC! Wow, big waste of time! So say staff, and most importantly, so say management.

There is a lot of uPortal, CAS, and portlet-related content that should be valuable to Luminis developers.  Plus some great keynote speakers and presentations from 12 or so other open source projects for higher education.

Hi all

We are trying to add additional GMail icon to our luminis portal page which already have a Groupwise, a Blackboard icons among others.

I made changes on uPortal.jar (channel.xsl), nested-tables.xsl in $CP_ROOT\webapps\luminis\stylesheets\org\jasig\portal\layout\tab-column\nested-tables and NewIconEvaluator.class in $CP_ROOT\webapps\luminis\WEB-INF\classes\com\sungardhe\cpicons but the GMail icon just would not show.   What did I miss?

Please someone give us any idea?   Thanks!

Hello, all.

I was wondering if there is a way to tell how many users have subscribed to a particular channel.  In this case it's an XSLT channel, although I'm not sure that matters. 

Perhaps some SQL against the Luminis database, or is there a cptool command  or other "Hacky" way?

We are on Luminis 4.1.1.39

Hi All,

I'm sure, like me you don't like having to bounce your production environment to enforce changes. I've thought up something that may alleviate this pain, just looking to see if anyone has an suggestions.

Essentially, the problem is that session data is lost when a tomcat instance is restarted. Since unlike Apache, Tomcat does not have a graceful restart command this is what I propose.

This announcement channel combines the campus and personal (targeted, group, course) announcements for a user into one channel. The advantage here is the ability to conserve real estate on a tab vs the out of the box Luminis offering of two seperate channels that distinguish between campus and personal announcements. In addition by selecting an announcement, the announcement is displayed to the user without the need of leaving the tab they are currently on. This latest incarnation of the announcement channel makes use of AJAX to communicate with the announcement servlet in the background to obtain the list of announcements, the details of the announcements, as well as periodically refresh the list of announcements.

Hi All

We installed and "successfully" migrated our school data from luminis 3.3.3.64 to IV. But I see our customized Icon disappeared. Can anyone give us any tips how to put it back? (We followed the instructions of CDK installation guide and created it in luminis 3.3.3.* version) Thanks!

p.s. After "successful" migration, we were able to logon but we could see some of the customized Tabs and Channels missing. We also see some records missing in the Oracle DB.

p.s. 2: We are running Windows 2003 and using 2 tiers - Resource and Calendar in luminis IV installation.
