Load Balancing New LP5 Install
Hello,
I'm looking at setting up a new LP5 installation with two portal nodes using a software load balancing solution. I have some experience using Apache HTTPD with mod_proxy, mod_proxy_ajp, and mod_proxy_balancer to frontend my institution's existing uPortal service and our (external to Luminis) CAS service. Is a similar setup possible with Luminis? Does anyone currently employ such a setup in production?
Can anyone share any experiences regarding software load balancing LP5 in general?
Thanks,
Nick
Targeted Contect Channels
We have a Targeted Content Channel that does appear on our portal page but after needing to make some changes to it we noticed it isn't in the Targeted Content Channel list to make changes to. I can find it in the Modify a currently published Channel but I can't make changes there. I'm not sure if this happened after the Luminis 3 to 4 migration or after the Banner 8 migration as we did them within a month of each other? Any Idea's
Thanks
Julie
how to tell if you're SSL-enabled
I'm preparing to do my first Luminis upgrade (heading to 4.3.0.81 I think). As I go through the upgrade manual I came to a section about re-enabling SSL.
My linux admin swear's we're SSL enabled. As I look at what the instructions say to do to re-enable after the upgrade and compare that to my production system, I don't think we are.
The manual says to
configman -g web.secure.access.config
And to expect 3 lines. I have just one:
/opt/luminis/webapps/luminis/WEB-INF/config/websecure.email.xml
We're not using the built in email, we've got an SSO to gmail.
Luminis 4.3 in Production
Hi All,
I was wondering how many of you are on 4.3 in production? Initially I was going to move us to a more recent version of 4.2, but now that I have some more time I was thinking to move us to 4.3. I've read that 4.3 moves to more recent versions of Tomcat and Java. Since there's a lot of new elements in the mix I was interested to hear your experiences or any issues you've had.
Thanks!
Christine
Invalidate targeted announcement cache?
Does anyone know how to force an invalidation of the targeted announcement cache without restarting Luminis? I know how to add a new announcement by inserting the proper information into the database, but the announcement doesn't get "sent" until the announcement cache is rebuilt (i.e. Luminis is restarted).
GCF /misc/noauth.html
I got the code for a GCF to Touchnet from another school, but I can't seem to get it to work. It isn't writing anything to the cp.log, or cpip.log on either the front-end web server or the cpip server (we have one cpip server on the resource/ldap server, and traffic to 8008 is directed there via our load balancer).
When I execute this sso URL:
https://ourschool.pcc.edu/cp/ip/login?sys=ebill&url=https://test.secure.touchnet.net:8443/Cxxxxxtest_tsa/web/welcome.jsp

We are getting following error during ldap replication from Redhat 4.x to Redhat 5.7 conversion on 32 bit Luminis. The installation went well, but Luminis replication script cannot transfer the policy. Any lead/ solution will be appreciated.

Hi Everyone,
New to Luminis Need Help
I am new to Luminis, currently using 4.2.2. Have been able to modify the login page and a minimum number of changes within the internal pages. Need help with:
Where is cp/home located. It's not in our directory structure so I assume it's an alias but can't locate where it's declared if that's the case.
New at JSP, Java and wondering is there a good site for beginners to understand how these files work and what is needed if changes are made. Been trying for a while now, flustered and need help.
Thanks
CMS success pulling into Luminis?
Right now we're bringing in several channels with information from our CMS (WebGUI) into luminis but are considering moving to a different CMS. We're researching different content management systems and being able to bring the content into Luminis easily is a requirement. Does anyone have successful/unsuccessful thoughts in regards to using luminis with dotCMS, Joomla, Drupal, WordPress or Concrete5?
