At U of S, we assign some temporary passwords to students and then mail them a letter with their temp password printed on it.
If a student attempts to log in with a temp password, then instead of getting into Luminis, we send them over to our identity management web interface, where they need to set a permanent password.
I have removed the java code for generating and comparing temporary passwords, so it may not compile as-is. However, you will get the basic idea. Also, you will see where we set a cookie on login. You could set your own cookie as needed.
For some time now it has irritated us that we cannot link directly to content in Luminis. Due to business priorities we never put this in... until now.
Here is the strategy we took. Provide a GET variable that allows the user to specify the channel functional name they want. If the user is logged in and they go to the home page they will either go strait into the portal, or into the page that is specified through the get variable. If they are not logged in, the requested variable is put into a cookie and then parsed once they have logged in.

Hi All
After migration (lots of messages coming out but 0 error?), we tried to run checkssl to enable EAS and got the following error:
$ checkssl NODE2PA 636
Trying SSL connection with NODE2PA:636
ERROR:Error initializing KeyStore! Keystore was tampered with, or password was incorrect
Could someone tell me how do I fix the error??? THANKS!

* Reply from Sungard: In the checkssl script you will see the password of changeit in there. Change this to your lumadmin password you used to install with then try re running the checkssl script.
and it worked.
After doing a good amount of research and a whole lot of trial and error, I've successfully added 3 new Custom icons to our Luminis environment. These Icons are to be displayed to every user in our system, so Roles are not a factor in these steps.
I should note that these steps were based off of Jeremy Baumli’s post (http://www.lumdev.net/node/1449). The steps that follow differ only slightly, with some more details that I found helpful.
I created three new icons, each of which simply point to an existing URL associated with our college.
Hi all
Sorry about more questions.
After migration completed, I tried to run "checkssl" for EAS to work, I got the following error:
"Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/pipeline/tools/ssl/CPTrustManager"
Can someone please tell me what does this mean? THANKS!

Added 01312008: Even after I ran resetrdb, resetdata and wipe out and reinstall luminis IV on our server, I still got this error running checksssl and even cptool! :(
Hi All
We like to know is it possible? Our school has an Emergency notification system that we want all students to register but some still ignoring it. We like to force the students to register the service before he/she can access Banner SSB in luminis. (Or Disable Self-service Banner Tabs before the student finish a survey that he/she has to take).
Thanks in advance.

Hi
Is it possible not to use migration shell script provided by Sungard and manually move customized data from luminis 3.3.3.* to luminis IV?
I'd been having so much problems trying to migrate data from our school luminis 3.3.3.64 to newly installed luminis IV server using migration script.
If it is possible, what do we need to move and how? Thanks in adbvance.

=External Authentication System=
This is yet another TLA (Three Letter Acronym) for a component of the Luminis portal. You can use another LDAP server to let Luminis authenticate against. It will direct all requests to this server for verification of credentials instead of its own. Better yet, you can setup MULTIPLE EAS configurations, to allow for redundancy and fall through. This keeps Luminis specific users (cpadmin) inside of Luminis' LDAP and out of the campus LDAP.
Hi
We tried to install luminis 4.0.1 on Windows 2003. We ran "LP-4.0.1.0-windows.exe install.conf" in our development server. It ran 1 second and stopped. After reviewing install.log (please see attached file), I had no idea what did we miss.
Please someone help. Thanks in Advance.

Hi All
Did any school successfully migrate old luminis III.3.* ssl certificate to the new luminis server when installing luminis IV on newe server(s)? if so, how? Would love to share your experience and tips.
We are trying to upgrade our school luminis 3.3.3.64 to luminis IV running on Windows 2003 servers. Thank you very much.
