I posted an article to announce a collaboration effort I'm calling CodeStorm. You can read more about it here.
We've already had some great ideas about possible projects to collaborate on.
One that has had a little more activity than the others is searching
I'll create a new thread called Portal Search and we can further discuss how to achieve this successfully since people have shyed away from this function.
I wanted to learn how other schools are doing load testing on Luminis4. This morning we opened up registration at 9am and had issues by 9:10am that we hadn't seen before. Our DBA is troubleshooting and seems like a mid-tier issue? So I'm wondering if tools like J-meter can load test that, or are typical web testing tools limited in terms of testing Self-Service Banner via the Luminis portal?
Any advice/feedback is greatly appreciated!!
I would like to ask everybody what are their best practices for the Luminis Time out sessions? We are currently receiving complains about a 10min max session on our portal (Luminis 4.x)
I would like to ask the following and get everybody's opinion on their set up or best practices that's working without compromising security.
1. PCI/DSS Compliance?
2. Average Timeout session for the Portal with SSB Links and Banner Links for role base, user and system.
3 Best practices.
Thank you in advance!
Is there any school kind enough to provide us source codes maybe just examples for KRONOS and ARGOS CPIP for luminis system 188.8.131.52 running on Windows 2003 OS?
We have a GCF connector on a server that is running IIS 6. The connector works great on this server. We are upgrading to a new server that is running IIS 8. We have been testing the GCF connector, and have found a problem. On the new server, the connector works fine the first time you click on it. If you stay in the same browser session, and click on the link again, you get an error. What is happening is that when it hits the login.asp page a session id is created. It passes the session id through to the dispatch.asp.
Has anyone created a channel to access the Banner Application Menu (bwskalog.P_DispChoices) using the bssa protocol
I am trying to create a channel that allows users to view their Banner online application regardless of what their luminis id/password is.
Currently we require that the Luminis ID and password match what is in sabnstu (I have the channel using the pds login id/password credentials).
This causes issues when an applicant changes their password before they register (when I strip the role allowing them to see the application channel).
Has anyone set up the luminis ldap and export from Banner in such a way as to allow the user to do as I described?
For making live changes to nested-tables.xsl on a test system, I used to turn off these caching values in portal.properties:
I recall that working fine for nested-tables, but it doesn't seem to have any effect on customIcons.xsl.
Has anyone discovered a cache setting for customIcons.xsl?
I would be interested in finding out how many institutions are using Luminis' text messaging capabilities as their primary emergency alert mechanism.
If you are using it, what is your back up when your system is down? Do you run on another instance in the cloud, etc?
If you are using a 3rd party system, what one and why did you choose that over the Luminis functionality?
Has anyone experienced any trouble with this functionality?
Has anybody successfully integrated Luminis IV with custom CAS? If so can you share the steps, process and notes involved in integrating Luminis with custom CAS. Are there any documents that i should look at ? We at Illinois institute of technology have Luminis IV and CAS 3.5.2 and we want to integrate both.
Before the Internet Explorer upgrade to version 10...and other such software upgrades...
We had a working portal login page script specific for mobile devices.
We don't now and I'm not even sure the problem is related to web browser upgrades, etc. All I know, is that I have not made any adjustments to the script.
