Luminis 3.x

Version 3 and all 3.x releases

Simple way just to output SIS.ID or SCT.ID in link? It must exist!

Greetings all,

I need to create a link to an external system, but it does not have to do all the fancy stuff that is involved with SSO using CPIP. What I need is really, really simple, and I'm going crazy here trying to figure out how to make it happen.

Luminis III new CPIP SSO not working, others do

Greetings,

I'm having a serious issue getting a new SSO link working. I took over maintenance of our portal after the previous developer moved on. I do not know very much about UNIX, and very little about Luminis. I've made do so far, but now I'm stumped.

We need to get this link working by Monday, and I've run out of ideas.

All we need to do is send the student ID (datatelId) via a form element to an external page. We do not need to get anything back from the external site, and do not need to encrypt the datatelId. Very simple, right?

Startup Script

Hi Luminis experts,

I'm having a problem with the startup script I got from this site. I know that the port is the problem but I don't know how to correct it. Please help or give suggestions on how I can solve this problem.

# Start Luminis and related processes
HOME=/opt/luminis;export HOME
CP_ROOT=/opt/luminis;export CP_ROOT
PATH=$SCT/bin:/opt/luminis:/sbin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:.
export PATH
#start Luminis and related processes
if [ "`/usr/bin/whoami`" != "lumadmin" ]
then
echo 'This command must be run by user lumadmin'
exit

Email channel error type 0

Greetings,

We are having some trouble with our mail in our portal (on the first day of term, of course).

When users log in, they see a general channel error:
Channel Error:

An unknown error occurred attempting to display the channel. This may be due to a configuration issue with the account or the mail server could be down.

When they attempt to visit the mail center, they get this:

Encountered an unknown error.

How do I enable SSL on my LDAP?

Let's see...Distance Learning is implementing a help desk software that will tie in to our Luminis LDAP for authentication. I'm not exactly sure what problems they are having, but they are asking for some ports to be opened on the firewall. I don't know why, if they are supposedly hosting this software internally, but anyway, I know one solution to protect our data would be to enable SSL on LDAP. Is this difficult to accomplish? What do I need to do?

We are experiencing very slow response times from our LDAP.

We are experiencing very slow response times from our LDAP. It seems to be mostly affecting Course Studio and Live Event processing. I am removing old semesters and it helped some but it is slow, removes about 20-30 courses per hour.
I would also like to clean up the student database by removing students who have never logged in or have not logged in for more than two years. Does anyone have an easy method they would like to share? or a clue why this is so slow. SCT has not been able to help much at this point.
Thanks,
Charles

Luminis 3 and Banner 8?

Hi all

Has any school upgraded Banner 8.0 but still using Luminis 3? We were in tight schedule that we might have to upgrade Banner from 7 to 8 before Luminis 3 to 4.

Thanks!

Role based code in nested-tables ?

Right, so YEARS ago I posted this http://www.lumdev.net/node/790 about how to create role based icons across the top of the portal. This code goes into channel.xsl and then you do some XSL tests to display what you want.

I have the need to actually detect this in nested-tables.xsl now. So - for example if you're a parent - I'd like to display a completely different layout, different css files, different images etc.

Inventory of luminis?

Hi all

Is there any way we can create an inventory list of luminis system running 3.3.3.64 version? (like Content, Channels, Groups and roles) So after we migrate, we can know everything is ok or not? Thanks!
