LDN - Luminis Developer Network

I am a student at Delaware County Community College. Our team project is building a web site for a student book exchange. Dean Eric Wellington suggested I ask this community for ideas/templates that might be useful. Any help would be appreciated.

We are no longer using Luminis in our development anymore and I would like to have my account deleted as it seems that I've been starting to get solicitors starting to contact me by looking me up on this site.

I've cranked up the CAPTCHA for new user registration. For those of you with accounts already - this won't affect you, but if you're creating a new account, the CAPTCHA is more difficult to read. Apparently the level it was set at was still allowing spam bots in.

If this doesn't hold them at bay - I'll install something a bit more intense. I'm trying to not have to install a CAPTCHA for every new post and comment, thats just irritating.

Our university is finally looking bringing application development in house as opposed to a methodology of buying pre-built applications and support. I more than welcome this opportunity, as I'll finally get to get my hands dirty with some real code.

This has nothing to do with Luminis.

I'm working on evaluating the vanilla Liferay product. Has anyone else done this? I'm having problems getting an environment setup such that I can make changes necessary for a custom installation (database configuration, etc.), build a WAR file that includes Liferay and my changes, and deploy the WAR to a server.

There was a post in the Luminis 5 Migration thread earlier this morning. The post was from a new site member. The was about the author's experience on the development team and why he chose to leave the project/company. I am curious if this post was removed by the poster, or by a site administrator? If the latter, why? Nothing in the post was slanderous.

Could we get support for following the blog comments via RSS? Currently, we can follow new blog posts via RSS, but not any new comments. If the blog post is not on the first page or two of the site it gets cumbersome to try and keep up with discussions.

I apologize for the frustration and mess this has become. For some reason I'm still unaware of, the spam filter has gone haywire and is marking just about everything as spam.

I've played around with the rules and it seems to have gotten worse, so I've disabled it.

I left captcha on - so I guess we'll see how bad it gets.
