We are getting following error during ldap replication from Redhat 4.x to Redhat 5.7 conversion on 32 bit Luminis. The installation went well, but Luminis replication script cannot transfer the policy. Any lead/ solution will be appreciated.

I'm looking for some advice on how to add a new field to the Luminis LDAP.

In our Banner-Luminis setup, spriden_id is our pdsLoginId ( e.g. A10020202 ).
We construct our student email addresses using gobtpac_external_user ( jsmith02 )

However, in our LDAP that gobtpac_external_id doesn't appear anywhere.

We'd like to use that external_id to let students log into an external LMS ( desire2learn ).

How can I do this? Where's the best field to put the external_id in ?

I'm having a serious issue getting a new SSO link working. I took over maintenance of our portal after the previous developer moved on. I do not know very much about UNIX, and very little about Luminis. I've made do so far, but now I'm stumped.

We need to get this link working by Monday, and I've run out of ideas.

All we need to do is send the student ID (datatelId) via a form element to an external page. We do not need to get anything back from the external site, and do not need to encrypt the datatelId. Very simple, right?

Just a quick tip, LP5 settings are stored in the internal LDAP. For back-up and reference, I export an LDIF of the "LUMINIS CONFIGURATION". I use JXplorer

Login to your LDAP port 389 (usually on the same node as CAS) as cn=Directory Manager and ou=LUMINIS CONFIGURATION, o=cp. Export an LDIF of the settings as a back-up.

Also been handy way to confirm settings as we have worked on the LDI / MQ from Banner.

We have Banner users who have account names that are different from their Lumimins username. We accomplish that with a crosswalk within the Luminis LDAP. Historically we set those up with ldapmodify calls with -f filename. I just to messing around with redirecting input rather than a temporary file. It seems to work, but if I use a file for input, the results in the ldap (from ldapsearch) are plain text, when I do the redirected input, it's encrypted. Is there some way to tell it not to encrypt if I use redirected input?

I have been happily using iPerson for some time to retrieve user ids and display names and the like. But I have always been puzzled at how to pull in multi-valued attributes, most specifically pdsRole values. Currently a single value is returned and there seems to be little little value in the single "role" value when the user may have a dozen or more.

Is there some way to configure personDirectory.xml to return an array of String values or is there some other way that I am missing to retrieve the entire set of roles for a specific user?

We recently launched our production portal (Sept.) and have been learning about portal administration as we go along.
One of the things I found a need for is an easy way to look up LDAP information for a specific user.
The user management tool provided through the Admin menu doesn't always show the information we're looking for (account suspended or disabled, login attempts...) and limiting what information or functionality access a user has would be difficult.

Need a way to passtrhough info from the LDAP (which is storying the user data) to a thirdparty link to bypass login in a production Luminis environment.

Here is part of the Sign-On HRL:

1. SSIUSER&username=SID0001 - being the Student e-mail already stored in the LDAP
2. firstname=Crystal&lastname=Ball - being the first name and last name also stored in the LDAP replacing the curent listed name "Crystal" and "Ball"

I'm writing a routine to search through the Luminis LDAP that will be called by a package residing in the Banner database (in a different schema). I would like to have it get the system LDAP parameters, including the bind password for the user configured in GUAUPREF, from Banner rather than my storing them in yet another place. Can anyone provide any pointers?

We are trying to automate the creation of student credentials on our LDAP (Novell eDirectory Authentication System) using student enrolments as a trigger.

Logically, this process would follow the same path as integrating WebCT with Banner.
