Business and Technology Applications Specialist

Information and Technology Systems – Applications Specialist - The Web Services is responsible for overseeing UNC Charlotte's entire web presence; including develop and maintain web policies/standards; Provides technical guidance for integration of other university technologies into the web; Research and development to maintain an effective and efficient web and portal presence; Provide guidance in the use of templates and standards for content management; and coordination with Server Administration to maintain web servers and related web systems.

The primary responsibility is to serve as the lead specialist over the University’s Enterprise Portal System: “49er Express”. This portal is a vendor provided application named “Luminis”, provided by Sungard Higher Education. This person will be the “go to person” for any issues or questions regarding the application. This involves troubleshooting, upgrades, and coordination on the administration with other ITS professional on the underlying Sun Solaris web servers and associated Oracle databases. They will assist in the development of channels, integration with the University information systems, and general expansion of the portal in efforts to expanding the portal to be a single point of entry to all major services across campus.

Must have an energetic personality with strong interpersonal skills; Strong comfort level in using SUN/Solaris command line; and application development experience.

The following skills are highly recommended and preferred:
* Sungard Luminis Portal Administration experience or uPortal experience.
* Strong visual layout and usability experience with portals, intranets, and extranets.
* Application development experience in JSP or Java.
* Oracle 9i/10g experience.
* Blackboard/WebCT system experience.
* Sungard Higher Ed Banner system experience.

Requires graduation from a four-year accredited college or university with nine semester hours in programming and three years of experience in business applications consulting or development. Experience in the field of work related to the position's role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. Recruitment range: $50,000 - $92,813.
