Targeted Contect Channels

Submitted by juliehober on Wed, 02/08/2012 - 10:41

We have a Targeted Content Channel that does appear on our portal page but after needing to make some changes to it we noticed it isn't in the Targeted Content Channel list to make changes to. I can find it in the Modify a currently published Channel but I can't make changes there. I'm not sure if this happened after the Luminis 3 to 4 migration or after the Banner 8 migration as we did them within a month of each other? Any Idea's
Thanks
Julie

Luminis Version:

What happens when you change the "Owner" drop-down box, on the main page for "Targeted Content Manager"?

I'm not sure if my reply went through to you or not. :) All of our channels were created as TargetedChannelAdmin I went ahead and created another channel as Admin and it does show in the list but my missing one still doesn't.

Thanks
Julie

My guess is that something in LDAP is messed up for this channel. Sorry, no easy fix if that is the case... what about deleting and re-creating it?

If you're more interested in diagnosing the problem, start looking at:
configman -g org.jasig.portal.RDBMChannelRegistryStore.\*
maybe something missing there.

Also:
configman -g content.store.perm.text
will show you the place where your TCC data is stored. There is another place in LDAP that maps channel IDs to those long numbers in the content store filesystem, but I forget where that is :)

Thanks Todd I will start looking there. Yes I really want to find out why this happened that's why I haven't just recreated it I'm afraid there may be other channels that happened with too so I want to know how to fix it!

Thanks
Julie

I forgot to add, the channel ID can be found in the database, in the up_channel table. The channel ID is then used in the LDAP entries I mention above.
