Secure webserver accessed via Luminis

Forums:

We have been asked to create a webserver for portlet delivered information. In essence they want an intranet that is only available via the portal. What is the best way to secure a webserver to only allow logged in users to view this information? Has anyone done this?

Luminis Version:

Oh, a separate server to store content that can only be accessed through the portal. I read the initial post wrong.

You can also use a proxy server to check different things, like referrer or log in status. So our intranet is accessible through our portal from offsite by proxing it. Inside our network, https://intranet.domain.edu is available from employee desktops. Outside our network, intranet.domain.edu is available through channels as http://ourproxy.edu?site=http://intranet.domain.edu. The proxy server makes sure they are logged into the portal.
