Portal position at Lehigh University

Submitted by gskinner on Wed, 09/14/2016 - 09:57

Hello Lumdev'ers! Sadly my portal developer relocated with her family and I am once again looking for someone to lead the direction of our portal. We did successfully migrate to Luminis 5.2 about 18 months ago, so if anyone is still fighting Luminis 4 and wants to be on Luminis 5.... well come at work at Lehigh University! I'm also wanting the ideal candidate to be able to pick up and work with Drupal. We do a lot of web development on campus using Drupal and we've also tied some portal content in via SSO and Drupal.

LMG and Glassfish sans LDAP

Submitted by jdryden on Wed, 12/09/2015 - 11:10

Hi--
At my institution, we are preparing to move away from Luminis, but wish to keep LMG for processing Banner/LDI events for our Blackboard system. We have chosen Glassfish MQ as the messaging platform, using the "non-ldap" alternative (file-system JNDI context) as detailed in https://ecommunities.ellucian.com/docs/DOC-3073. Does anyone have experience with this setup? I'm having problems connecting blackboard via the file-based java.naming.provider.url

thanks,
jim

GCF Connector migration

Submitted by Jason on Wed, 06/10/2015 - 18:58

Forums:

GCF/cpip is the area of Luminis that I know the least about. We had professional services setup the GCF/cpip sso in our current Luminis IV system to several external systems (Banner self-service, DegreeWorks, etc..).

I followed the Luminis 5.2 GCF guide, enabled GCF using the sso channel, imported the .xml and .properties files, and then tried to test it using the 'authenticate' button in the sso channel.

I get a "Unable to Access External System

Authentication attempt failed. See logs for details. "

Portlets.com - We Don't Make Luminis 5, We Make It Better! :)

Hey LumDevers,

I am the higher education practice manager for Portlets.com.

Sorry in advance if this message from a vendor rubs anyone the wrong way but I think we may be able to add value to your Luminis 5 implementations.

We have built and support a library of portlets for Luminis 5 that might address some gaps in Luminis 5 (versus what was available in Luminis IV) or just might power up your Luminis 5 environment.

If you can pull out 30min from your schedule, I would be happy to walk you through what we have for Luminis 5.

Submitted by caf209 on Thu, 04/09/2015 - 16:28

Syntax highlighting is now available for your posts on Lumdev. We have integrated SyntaxHighlighter (http://alexgorbatchev.com/SyntaxHighlighter/) with the site so that highlighting can occur within <pre> tags. More information on using SyntaxHighlighter can be found at http://alexgorbatchev.com/SyntaxHighlighter/manual/configuration/. Please continue reading to learn how to use the feature.

Luminis host in-place Windows OS upgrade

Submitted by nate1 on Tue, 03/17/2015 - 10:47

Anyone tried this? We have a not-so-gracefully aging Luminis 4 instance on Windows Server 03. We were hoping for a quick fix for the OS before summer while we make our drop/replace decision on Luminis itself before next year. I'm working through trying to get VM cloned Luminis instance back up and running after an in-place windows upgrade to Server 08, but after several missing services and Luminis process errors it's not looking good :).

Questionable Credibility of a Few Recent Posts

Since Lumdev’s beginning, this site has been a place to share ideas, concerns, troubleshoot errors, and even the occasional rant. It is my belief, that at Lumdev’s core, this forum followed in the higher ed spirit of helping out and adding to the enrichment of not only the portal community, but the Luminis product as well. The success of the community and the success of Luminis share a strong connection. I’ve personally contributed many posts sharing methods to enhance, extend, and promote Luminis.
