So Lost with BEIS

Submitted by mguevara5151 on Thu, 04/23/2015 - 17:40

We are in the process of finally moving to Luminis 5. I have installed Luminis 5--that's the easy part--now, I need to move forward with all the integration/configurations. Excuse my ignorance, but I'm totally lost with what to do next! Luminis 4 was much simpler *sigh* Anyhow, we have a 3-tier setup: Admin/LDAP, CAS, Portal (no load balancing). We ultimately want to have Luminis, Gmail (SSO, portlet, account provisioning to Gmail), Canvas (no course sites, SSO, portlet (I think via ILP), account/course provisioning to Canvas), Banner portlets, SSO to INB and SSB. So what do I do next?

Theme Not Displaying

Greetings!

Has anyone experienced humming along with their upgrade and one day you come in to work, log into the portal node and you notice your LP5-ellucian-theme not displaying? Well, that's what has happened to me. I cannot for the life of me think of what may have caused this. The theme is available as a choice from the control panel. It is displaying on the admin site for the home community. It just won't display on the portal site for the home community.

Targeted Announcements in L5?

Submitted by dmmcinto on Mon, 04/13/2015 - 09:36

Forums:

We are in the process of moving over from L4 to L5. Several functionality has changed or been dropped all together.

One area we are trying to address is the previous Targeted Announcements which allowed us to upload an XML file to create a targeted message and email o be sent to an ad-hoc list of users.

My understanding is that L5 dropped this functionality. Ad-hoc messages are now leveraging "Banner Population Selections". Is that correct?

LP5 Group/Course file upload storage location

Submitted by Jason on Fri, 04/10/2015 - 13:23

Forums:

Does anyone know if LP5 can store group/course files that are uploaded by users to different storage locations based on user attributes (role, etc..)? I assume the answer is no, but I've asked Ellucian also.

Has anyone developed a custom 'dropbox-like' solution that takes into account a person's roles when deciding where to store the file? For instance, I would want a finance person's files stored in location X, but a chess club person's files would be stored in location Y.

default theme for My Private Pages

Submitted by jmacke on Fri, 04/10/2015 - 12:42

Forums:

I have a default theme with our school colors set up for the Public/Private pages in the Home community. What do I need to do to set up the theme for "My Private Pages". Right now it is still Ellucian purple. For the "My Private Pages", I really don't care if they want to change it to any other color, but I'd like it to start out with our colors. Plus, I'm not sure where/how to set permissions so they can change the layout/number of columns, etc. for those pages.

Page permissions

Forums:

How are you setting up the page permissions in Luminis 5? I'm specifically thinking about the public and or private pages I have set up in the home community. I'm finding if I make the student pages so they can be updated or customized whatever one student does changes everyones' page. Is there another way I should be thinking about this?

Luminis 5 equivalent to Lum 4 proxy channel

Submitted by nesslage on Fri, 03/13/2015 - 11:51

Forums:

In our current Luminis 4 environment, I have setup a number of web proxy channels that pass iperson attributes to custom off-server pages. Now that we are preparing to move to Luminis 5, I have not found (in my admittedly limited research) an equivalent method of implementing these in portlets. Is there something similar already available, or can someone point me in a new direction to provide the same functionality?

External Authentication Service and LP5

Submitted by dalles on Wed, 03/11/2015 - 15:42

Forums:

Greetings!

We're in the process of upgrading to LP5 and one of the questions that needs answering is how some current user accounts will be able to access without having to authenticate through CAS. Mostly, these are for testing purposes (so that various offices can log in to see what a certain population is seeing - these accounts only exist in Luminis). With LP4 we use External Authentication Service for these special accounts; however, I have not been successful in finding any documentation about this possibility in LP5.

Any information would be most appreciated.
