Luminis 5 equivalent to Lum 4 proxy channel

Submitted by nesslage on Fri, 03/13/2015 - 11:51

In our current Luminis 4 environment, I have setup a number of web proxy channels that pass iperson attributes to custom off-server pages. Now that we are preparing to move to Luminis 5, I have not found (in my admittedly limited research) an equivalent method of implementing these in portlets. Is there something similar already available, or can someone point me in a new direction to provide the same functionality?

External Authentication Service and LP5

Submitted by dalles on Wed, 03/11/2015 - 15:42

We're in the process of upgrading to LP5 and one of the questions that needs answering is how some current user accounts will be able to access without having to authenticate through CAS. Mostly, these are for testing purposes (so that various offices can log in to see what a certain population is seeing - these accounts only exist in Luminis). With LP4 we use External Authentication Service for these special accounts; however, I have not been successful in finding any documentation about this possibility in LP5.

Any information would be most appreciated.

Integrating Luminis 5.2.1 with Google Apps

We are setting up a test Luminis LP- environment and this is our setup.

1. Oracle Database(s) for Luminis are running on a separate AIX box.
2. We use a Windows 2008 R2 external CAS server that authenticates against Active Directory
3. The Luminis LDAP server and Admin Portal Tier is running on it's own Oracle Unbreakable Linux box
4. The Luminis Web Portal is on it's own separate box running Oracle Unbreakable Linux box.

You do not have required permissions...

I have several Web Content Display portlets that work for most users but a few see an error box that reads:

"You do not have the required permissions to access this content."

I've attached a screenshot of the errors. I have verified that users that can and can't see the content have the same roles and groups. The permissions are set correctly for the portlets.

IDM Architecture Inquiry

Submitted by ATilling on Tue, 02/24/2015 - 15:28

Hello All,

We’d like some feedback about how other Banner institutions are handling IDM. Specifically relating to those Banner-native IDM resources.

Connecticut College is currently considering re-architecting our IDM implementation. Our current architecture is a cascading series of views that define groups and attributes which we feed out to our ID Vault. We are not using any of the Banner-native IDM resources like GOVROLE. Consequently, we are suffering complexity and speed issues.

Are you using GOVROLE beyond the initial roles?

Getting permission error trying to add user roles programatically

Submitted by j.miles on Fri, 02/13/2015 - 13:51

I'm trying to add a user role programmatically inside of a liferay login hook:

List roleList = new ArrayList();

Everything runs through fine until the last line, when it catches the exception: You don't have permission to set the user's roles.

White screen after Install of Luminis 5.2

Submitted by ces55739 on Fri, 02/06/2015 - 16:38

I have installed Luminis5.2 on our test server. I start up Luminis with no errors. However, I am receiving an error message when trying to access luminis on chrome:

On port 9001 I have set security.ssl.loadbalancer.termination.admin = true using jconsole. Using Luminis5.2 installation guide, I would have imagined this would have fixed this, but it has not.

Any thoughts or tips?

Lum 5 Architecture

We are a smaller school (500 - 600 concurrent users) and I am wondering on examples of other smaller schools setup in regards to hardware and architecture of install. One portal tier? Hardware etc

Any help would be appreciated.

Message Prompts at Portal Log In

Submitted by lyounger on Fri, 01/09/2015 - 19:05

On our student information system we are using prompts for students to acknowledge mandated policies. I'm looking for help implementing a similar system of prompts on the portal log in. Has anyone using a load balancer, CAS SSO and Luminis 5 accomplished this?

Any information would be appreciated.

Thank you,
Lesli Younger
