Load test LP5.1

Submitted by javacool on Tue, 06/17/2014 - 16:48

I'm conducting load testing on our new LP5.1 servers. Our test portal servers performed well after tweaking the configurations of CAS, LDAP and Portal servers. Our two web servers can handle about 2000 active sessions, but our DBA noticed high CPU usage peaking at about 90% at the Oracle database server. Does anyone have recommendations for LP5.1 database tuning?

Building a portal on new LP5.1

Submitted by zy001 on Fri, 10/11/2013 - 10:06

Hi guys,
Today, I am starting this block to record and share my journey of building and customising a new LP5.1 platform with all of you.

The goal:
To build a new dev LP5.1 with highly customised web interface, automated user provisioning process with external AD/LDAP/IM application, and highly independent service oriented portal framework to support portlet channels (based on current own framework and uPortal / JSP modle 2 channels).

The intent of this blog is to hear how other upgrades have gone, particularly if the upgrade path is similar to what will need to be done here. Version 3.x to version 5.x.

Group Studio Activity Channel

Submitted by ricem on Mon, 11/19/2012 - 16:27

We are thinking about making all our groups hidden groups and I would like to know if there is a way to have the Group Studio Activity Channel automatically recognize which groups a person is a member. The user wouldn't need the option to necessarily choose which groups to monitor. I believe this is how the Course Studio channel works.

Also, is there a way to base group membership on role (i.e. if you have X role then you are automatically a member of X group). I will create custom roles in Banner and the portal and populate the members.

Luminis Portal slow/hangs when Banner Database server is down

Submitted by sidman on Thu, 05/10/2012 - 10:16

Hi All,
Our Luminis Portal is extrememly slow and appears to hangs when the Banner Oracle PROD database Host server (not just the instance) is shutdown down.
If we shutdown the Banner Oracle PROD database instance, the Oracle Listener and/or Self-Service Banner on fmw11g all other portal funtionality is unaffected.
Our release levels are:
Oracle DB
Banner 8.4

File Manager - ESUP Stockage Portlet

Submitted by brippe on Tue, 10/18/2011 - 12:59

Anyone using a file manager with Luminis IV? I've modified and configured ESUP File Manager Portlet to display files for download which works fine in uPortal 2.5. However, the moment I move the portlet to Luminis and modify the emptySessionPath to "true" for Tomcat's Connectors, luminis is unable to render any of it's channels in Internet Explorer. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Grade Book for Luminis

Submitted by rhughes on Tue, 08/23/2011 - 11:53

Has anyone incorporated a grade book into Luminis? This is the biggest missing component of Course Studio.

Some schools use Blackboard/Moodle/Sakai for every course so faculty can post grades for assignments/quizzes/tests. We only use Blackboard for on-line courses to keep our licensing costs manageable.

I asked this back in 2009 and got no responses. Hopefully someone has figured it out by now. Has anyone incorporated the Sakai/Moodle grade book component only in Luminis?
