Submitted by ma_isaura on Thu, 10/16/2014 - 17:36

Hello LumDev Community:

We want to share our fix to patch the POODLE vulnerability in LUMINIS 5.0.x deployments. This fix applies to tomcat version 5.x (we currently have Apache Tomcat/5.5.27 and Luminis version 5.0.4)

We made an update in our CAS, PORTAL, ADMIN server.xml

removed:
sslProtocol="TLS"

and replaced this setting with:
protocols="SSLv2Hello,TLSv1,TLSv1.1,TLSv1.2"

Why is luminis 5 better than 4?

Submitted by phillies40 on Mon, 12/02/2013 - 09:24

Hi all

We are working on upgrading luminis 4 to 5 but my department director wants to know why since our current system running on 4.3.0.147 (windows 2003 OS) is really great and steady.

Are you upgrading to 5 simply for the sake of upgrading or for better reason? Could any school give us reason(s) to upgrade? thanks so much!

Building a portal on new LP5.1

Submitted by zy001 on Fri, 10/11/2013 - 10:06

Hi guys,
Today, I am starting this block to record and share my journey of building and customising a new LP5.1 platform with all of you.

The goal:
To build a new dev LP5.1 with highly customised web interface, automated user provisioning process with external AD/LDAP/IM application, and highly independent service oriented portal framework to support portlet channels (based on current own framework and uPortal / JSP modle 2 channels).

Cloning of a virtualized luminis server? YES! Now we just successfully cloned lumnis system!

Submitted by phillies40 on Fri, 04/26/2013 - 11:50

Hi all

Has any school virtualized (VMS) its luminis system? how about cloning?

We did both successfully but we did notice some weird things happened between the cloned and original luminis systems.

Examples:

1. When running "cptool list users" in both systems, they show exactly the same when no one is using the cloned one, but later try, the cloned one shows 0.
2. When we make a targeted announcement on the original luminis system, it shows on the cloned on as well!

We ask our network team and DBA, they could not find anything wrong either.

Luminis tomcat-cp on Solaris with LD_PRELOAD=libumem.so

Submitted by novosirj on Thu, 03/28/2013 - 19:56

I'm somewhat surprised that I'm the first person ever writing anything about this on the Internet it looks like (Googling for libumem and Luminis turns up a whopping zero hits), but I think I've found something that substantially improves the performance of Luminis under load (on my 2 CPU test system anyway -- I will have to try this on our 8 CPU production system and see if the results translate) and would like some feedback.

Google SSO

Submitted by kluminis on Thu, 03/07/2013 - 08:39

We would like to have an account dedicated for the single sign-on (SSO) authentication with just the adequate permissions required for SSO to work. What is the required permissions that must be assigned to the google account to allow the authentication?
